Korra! ♥

Apr. 18th, 2012 11:46 am

I watched Korra at the weekend, but I needed to vent the YJ stuff before posting about this show!

In short,

it was beautiful and I can't wait for the next episodes!

My thoughts on the episode, and some spoilers! )

Okay, bring on the next episode! :D

Emma Stone, who most people were expecting to play Mary Jane in the Spider-Man reboot, is playing Gwen Stacy. XD In that case, I hope they focus on Gwen and Peter for this movie and just kind of have mentions of MJ like they did in the early comics. (I go on about it all the time, I know, but Spectacular Spider-Man did this really well.)

It might be a smart move on Emma's part given that (spoilers for those who don't know Spider-Man comic canon) Gwen dies. She won't have to stay in the franchise very long and can still get exposure.

I've been on the Internet long enough now to not read comments at the source or on message boards when it comes to comic book movies, but curiosity got the better of me. It's also quite late here so I'm gonna put it down to poor judgement. Anyhoo, forced laughter and sighs of annoyance at all the fanboys who were like GOOD, COS EMMA STONE'S NOT HOT ENOUGH TO BE MJ, MJ'S SUPPOSED TO BE A SUPERMODEL bla bla crap. ¬_¬ Since the film is set in this time period, I'm pretty sure MJ wouldn't be a supermodel, her proportions (which I'm sure is all you care about) are too curvy. I always thought that the way Mary Jane carried herself made her hot, in addition to her looks. But silly girl me, of course it's just cos she has big boobs. Part of me wants to be petty and ignore the lack of female characters in the Avengers movie and just go on and on an on about how hot all the main actors are just to be annoying. XD (Although the dudes in that cast are good actors too.)

Anyhoo, it just reminded of this annoying ad we have at the moment:

A request please, M. Night Shyamalan...

Cos it's just getting beyond silly now. This movie has been made. It's there. Unfortunately, no-one has invented time travel yet, so there's no undoing the fail. People who wanna go watch this movie will watch it. People who don't wanna watch it, won't. But please stop trying to get the fans that you pissed off back "on side" because it won't happen. By making lame excuses/reasonings like that, it's clear you don't know or don't understand exactly why they are upset. It's not the usual "fans of the original are upset again because a few things were changed". It's not them getting pissed off at the equivalent of "THEY MADE PETER PARKER'S EYES BLUE INSTEAD OF BROWN, UNACCEPTABLE!" It's a lot worse than that. You'd be better off focusing on the people who are actually going to watch it, and at least make it a decent movie for them.

Lol, I'm aware that M. Night (and probably most of my f-list :P) won't be reading that, but journal is for venting and venting is good for you! If I don't let it out, I may hit an unsuspecting (but totally deserving) commuter on the way to work.

Now! Off to oogle Tetsuji watch the second episode of BOSS. :D

Christopher Nolan's gonna be overseeing the new Superman movie!

As well as doing the third Batman movie. If it was anyone else, I would've assumed that WB were going with the whole Batman made much dollars, Batman is dark therefore we make Superman dark and it will make much dollars! Luckily, Nolan and Goyer seem to have a good balance of sticking to the overall feeling of the source material, while still making a good movie. I'm not a big fan of Superman, but I will safely assume they'll go for story over flashy-ness, so it'll be a good movie. As long as they make Lois the HBIC that she's supposed to be!

In other (facepalm inducing) news: Disney restyles 'Rapunzel' to appeal to boys. Or: GIRLS HAVE COOTIES SO WE NO MAKE MOVIES FOR THEM!

I'm pretty sure releasing The Princess and the Frog so close to Avatar didn't do it any favours. A lot of the more successful Disney movies had girls as the main characters, so I don't really see their point here. Boys already have most of the animation market to themselves! Disney movies are meant to be for EVERYONE not just a certain audience that people seem to think make more money. And whats's wrong with having something that's aimed at little girls?! I do wish more of the main girl characters were like Mulan and Lilo though. Miyazaki (whom Disney seem to love so much) has mostly female leads. One of his highest grossing films also had Princess in the title. AND WHY DOES THE MALE LEAD HAVE TO BE A "BAD BOY"?! Why can't he just be a nice, even tempered guy?!

Tired...!

It's the weekend! Woo!

I'm totally knackered. A little less woo. D: Work is always long on a Friday, I'm afraid I might fall asleep, much to the amusement of my co-workers.

Also, what the hell Disney?! They're doing a Rupunzel movie after the Princess and the Frog movie (with Alan Menken doing the music, hurrah!) and I was excited cos Kristen Chenoweth was going to voice Rupunzel, but now they're going with Mandy Moore instead. I don't have anything against Mandy Moore, but what I liked most about the old Disney movies is that they usually went with actors that had singing/theatre training or worked on Broadway. (Although, I think that stopped happening for the title characters post-Beauty and the Beast.) Cheno has an amazing singing voice. It just feels like they went with Mandy Moore so that they can have a more famous name on the poster. Not saying that famous actors can't do well in animated roles (Robin Williams FTW!), it's just kinda disappointing. I hope I'm wrong and that's not the reason though.

Anyhoo, I decided (very wisely as it turned out) to take a mini break from Odoru Daisousasen to watch 1 Litre of Tears. I figured, since 1 Litre is definitely going to be heartbreaking to watch, at least I'll have a funny drama to watch afterwards! I finished it yesterday and I cried pretty much every episode from 4 onwards. Cos it was a true story, I think it hit home that much more. Gotta say, very impressed with Ryo, he did a lot better than I was expecting. I had only seen him in Attention Please before. The three songs were really nice as well, especially the ending theme by K which always made me tear up! ;_;

So now, back to the amusing police at Wangan Station! :D

Ooh, and an extra note, I never thought in a million years that MatsuJun would look good with any kind of facial hair, but the new stubble is totally working for you dude! *_*

I will post about this in more detail when I've had a bit of rest and relaxed a bit, but in short: All you London Underground guys who are striking today (and yesterday) I HATE YOU SO MUCH TO YOU! ;_; And if I see a picketer type person, I shall spit on you or something. Holding the city to ransom, you asshats!

I am cranky because a journey that used to take me 45 minutes took me FOUR HOURS last night cos of them. But more on that at a later date.

Well, I liked the first two movies. Although the story of the second one could've been a LOT better. I dunno. I'm probably biased, cos this is the first Marvel comics movie where my favourite characters (Ben and Johnny) actually got represented as how they are in the comics. (Poor Nightwcrawler and Spidey. And MJ! And others I cannot recall at this moment ;_; BUT THEY ARE NUMEROUS!)

I don't like this theory that dark = better when it comes to movies. Of course Batman works dark. He's called The Dark Knight for goodness' sakes. And I don't even know what they were thinking when they were playing with the idea of Superman going dark. The Dark Knight made so much money because it made a damn good movie that also stayed close to the feel of the source material. That's something everyone should keep in mind (not just Marvel) when making a comic/animation-to-live-action movie. I'm all for a good dark movie once in a while, but you need some lighter ones too! I've never thought of the FF as anything above a PG kinda movie.
