The Legend of Korra: Book 1 sum-up!

Okay, I'm too lazy to post on all the episodes I didn't blab about before, so I'll give a general sum up of my feelings/thoughts/reactions on the last few episodes.



- My favourite character of the first season ended up being Lin Beifong. LOVE her! She's such a badass! I pretty much lost it when Amon took her bending away. She kind of reminds me of characters Katherine Hepburn used to play.
- I'm so glad we saw grown up Sokka! :D I loved that even though he was all grown, on the council and important guy, he still loved his boomerang. ♥ So sweet.



- Aang got bass, damn! I wasn't expecting his voice to be so deep!
- Did not call Amon being a Waterbender/Bloodbender. Did call him being connected to Yakone. Did not call him being related to Tarlok.



- Props to Asami for not going all dark side when Mako broke up with her. I'm glad, I was half expecting that to happen.
- Unfortunately, I'm not too big a fan of Mako at the moment. Let's hope he gets some better development in the next season.



- It's a shame, but you can tell that somewhere around episode 6/7, they realised that they had to wrap this up rather quickly and didn't have time to develop everyone as well as they'd have liked. Especially the ending. I don't think they knew they were getting the 14 ep extension before they made that episode.
- I'm a pretty big fan of Tenzin too. And his family. They're all so awesome and adorable!



- I still weep that Aang never got to meet them! ;_; I hope Sokka did at least! I was pretty surprised they let the airbabies get caught too, considering this is a Saturday morning cartoon! I knew they'd be okay, but I was still like DO NOT WANT TO SEE THIS! And the new baby is called Rohan! (I still connect this with K3G rather than LOTR as I watched K3G first.)
- I love Bolin! ♥ However, I really hope he gets more character development next season, there wasn't enough of him!



- ZUKO'S GRANDKID! ;_;



- HE'S NAMED IROH! HE'S NAMED IROH!!!



- THOSE GENES CAME THROUGH WELL!



- TOO MANY FEELINGS!



- FOR A SPLIT SECOND, I TOTALLY SHIPPED KORRA AND IROH EVEN THOUGH I DON'T DO THAT SORT OF THING AND THEY NEVER REALLY EVEN TALKED! XD
- Okay, caps off, sorry!
- Back to Amon's backstory. Sad! :( It was just really sad. Another buttmunch father! And voiced by Clancy Brown, aka Lex Luthor aka Long Feng etc. What got to me the most in the flashback scenes was when they were bloodbending those wolf-dogs (I think?). The first series didn't shy away from showing how animal cruelty was wrong, and even though it was uncomfortable to watch, I was impressed that they did it.
- But yeah, Amon had some issues. That face make up....disturbing...



- I kinda felt bad for that dude that worked for Amon. Even though Amon was wrong, the anti-bending people had some legit issues. It'd be nice to see if this guy tries to get things to change in a more legal way now.
- Again, surprised cos it's a Saturday morning cartoon, but murder/suicide?!?!?! DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?! DID HE CRY COS HE KNEW IT WAS GONNA HAPPEN?!



- Naga's a badass!
- LOL, BUMI! XD Can't wait to see more of him!
- Korra's parents are good looking, damn! XD



- We all kinda knew that Korra would unlock airbending/spirit side after she lost the other 3. I'm glad everyone's getting their bending back though!
- Seperate paragraph for Korra. Love her too! I think she got a lot of unnecessary flack, but I'm glad she wasn't perfect. She had flaws, a lot of which came from how she was brought up and kept away from the world. But I liked that she was always honest, never hid how she felt. She was never embarrassed or ashamed of being strong physically. She didn't hate girly things, it's just not something she was interested in. I'm looking forward to seeing how she develops from now on. I would have loved to have had a character like her when I was growing up!



- Kinda wished that they'd have left the Makorra thing open, but like I said, I don't think they knew about the episode extension and after all the fuss with shipping from the last series, I doubt they'd dare leave the main couple not getting together at the end.



All in all, great start to the series. Hopefully now they've got an additional 26 episodes on top of the 14 they're currently making, they can take their time and develop the story/characrters how they want.

Perfect summary indeed (lol how cute are some of those gifs really?).

I'm really not huge on Mako either. Just talking about it kinda upsets me a bit tbh which is irrationnal but well. And now that the ship is done, hopefully season 2 will be able to focus on what's really important :).

That's what I'm hoping for as well. Like, okay they're together now, let's have some story and character development. I think cos so many people complained about the lack of romance in the first series, they felt like they had to go overboard with it in this one. What I've heard about season 2 sounds good so far!

I kinda feel like LOK was for us older fans who grew up watching AtLA.

When they called him Iroh, I swear I would've burst into tears had my sister not been watching with me!
