Okay, I think I've calmed down enough now to make a coherent(ish) post about this wonderful ball of amazingness. XD Although I've got to get a few things off my chest first.

1) Everyone and their dog/cat is going on about how amazeballs this film is. And it is. But, with certain pre-conditions. If you don't enjoy the superhero genre or are expecting a LOTR style epic masterpiece thingy then you'll be disappointed. It's a great superhero film, really enjoyable, got a lot of heart but don't expect something Oscar worthy. ^_^

2) While you can enjoy this film without having seen the Marvel films before it, I wouldn't recommend it. A big part of the appeal of this film was the character interaction/development and Joss did great work building on top of what had come before instead of just starting from scratch. There were moments in the film for Cap, Thor and Iron Man that hold more meaning if you've seen the other films. Out of all of them, I'd say Thor and Cap's films are the most important to see before going, but Iron Man's films are great too.

3) The Avengers is not Batman. XD A lot of people have been comparing the two lately, but to be honest, the only thing they have in common is that they're both based on comic books. Avengers is a straight up comic book film, and I love the Nolan Batman films but I'd be hard pressed to call them superhero films. It's more like, if Batman existed in real life, this is how he'd be.

Now, with that out of the way, review time! I loved, loved, loved this film. I could seriously watch this every week until it left the cinema, but then I'd be broke and this film already has enough money. I feel like it was completely enjoying being a superhero film, not worrying about whether non-comic book fans would find certain things weird or silly, and it just went and had fun. A big part of this is because Joss is a fan and knows the genre so well and he just brought it on this. If he doesn't do Avengers 2, I will be so damn upset.

Bullet points, otherwise I'll go on forever!

- I was seriously not expecting the action to start so early! And I'm glad I avoided spoilers, cos I was all OH NO HAWKEYE at the beginning.

- As much as I dislike Maria Hill in the comics, she was pretty cool here. And I'm 80% sure there was a scene where she was checking Cap out! (Not that anyone can blame her)

- Cap! ♥ He's so sweet. But it's so sad to see how he's become. All these sad things happened to him, and what makes it worse is that he's probably the nicest person on the planet.

- Fury was a badass! But I had to LOL at him going at the plane with a bazooka, it was just so unexpected but not surprising, if that makes sense. Gotta love him sticking it to those world government people too.

- I'm glad they had Pepper in this film, she adds a lot to Tony's character.

- Tony Stark was awesome, as expected. He has changed a lot since the first film, and even though he's not new to the whole hero thing, this is the first time he had to deal with something that wasn't a personal vendetta and was potentially world destroying. RDJ was great at showing this. Even though he was all snarky and stuff, you could see the moments when he was worried. Especially when him and Cap had that talk after Coulson died. "We are not soldiers!" That line had so many layers to it. I felt so sorry for him. :( He also seemed to have a bit of an inferiority complex around Cap, due to the fact that Papa Stark fangirled about him all the time. He didn't even wait 1 minute before starting on him. XD

- I wish there was more Thor. He's so funny, and had most of the best laughs in the film. I felt really sorry for him too, cos even after everything that was happening, he just wanted his brother to not be evil and come home. ;_;

- Bruce stole the film! No-one was expecting much from Hulk (me included) but he was brilliant. And Mark Ruffalo was just brilliant. Maybe Hulk works better in a team? Or maybe when they're focusing more on his science-y side rather than the AH HE'S A MONSTER side? That line when he said he had tried to commit suicide, it was just so sad. And you could feel the emotion in the room, especially on Tony and Cap's face. (Which makes me wonder about them, but that's for another time.)

- Speaking of that scene, were we meant to think that Loki's glow stick was causing them to be more angry than they would have been normally? The camera angles and music were really weird! And there was a point where Tony seemed to snap out of it.

- The best thing about this film? The 3rd act was perfection. I love superhero films, but 9 out of 10 times, the 3rd act sucks. It's like they lose steam and just kinda finish.

- If it wasn't for the fact that Iron Man 3 was confirmed, I would've lost my shit when Iron Man took the nuke through the portal. With superhero films being rebooted so easily these days, we can expect some superheroes to die!

- Black Widow was awesome. I really was not expecting anything from her character, but she ended up being one of my favourites. The scene with her and Loki was so cool, I wasn't expecting it to go that way! This is what happens when you consider the girls as characters instead of window dressing. ;)

- Hawkeye was cool too. I've grown to like him a lot due to the Avengers cartoon, and I wish we had seen more of him when he wasn't all Loki'd, but we can save that for the next films. The rumour is that Cap 2 will feature SHIELD a lot, so we might see him there, depending on how many films Jeremy Renner has signed on for.

- Coulson! ;_; They promised they wouldn't, but I suppose I should've expected it anyway. I tend to get attached to secondary characters so easily, so this was pretty sad for me. I loved the way he was geeking out over meeting Cap, it was so cute. It makes me wonder if he was a fan of Cap when he was a kid and that's one of the reasons he joined SHIELD. WHY DID HE HAVE TO DIE THOUGH?! *weeps* I don't care if it's a cop out, if he shows up in Iron Man 3 or whatever the next Marvel film is, I will be happy.

- Loki! Tom Hiddleston is such a good actor, I hope we get to see him in lots of stuff. His best moments were with Thor. You could see that he doesn't hold anything against his brother personally, but it's more the circumstances of the thing, he can't just chill with his bro, there's a lot of baggage there. And that one tear before he stabbed Thor, oh dear. :(

- I liked that Tony and Bruce bonded over science, it was cute. XD

- Best looking cast in a long time.

Favourite parts!

- "Hulk. Smash."
- Loki vs Hulk
- Shakespeare in the park.
- "He's adopted."
- Loki/Black Widow interregation scene.

- "I understood that reference!" I was proper awwwwww at that part!

- Tony trying to get Bruce angry. XD
- Fury saying "stupid ass decision". It just made me laugh.
- Cap giving Fury the $10.

- Coulson fangirling.
- Coulson shooting Loki.
- Hawkeye's mad archery skills. Especially that part where Loki caught the arrow and was all "bitch please" and it blew up.
- "Better clench up, Legolas."
- "You're all so petty. And tiny." This might be my favourite part. XD

There's loads more, but I've forgotten. XD I really should've wrote this when I saw it and just posted it later. But I was worried it'd be filled with rambling nonsense (more so than this).

One of the great things about this film is the hilarious/cute fanart that has come out of it.

The last two came from this page. I can't remember where I found the rest!

Please take note Hollywood. Things don't have to be doom and gloom in order to make bank.

Aw man, you make me want to go and see it again so bad but my mom is so busy and then I am away and then she had grading to do and then I am running my half marathon. WAAAAAAAAAAH. Anywho, Agent Coulson, I am still mourning for him. But.... no one but Fury saw the body out of all the characters. Like, I buy that he may be off active duty or something in SHIELD but um, that was all way too pat!

And anyone who thought this would have the grandeur of LoTR was delusional. Did they watch the trailers? All snark and action. No teary-eyed, blue-eyed mini-people in sight. :)

I so wanna see it again, but no-one wants to go! ;_; Ooh, are you running on the weekend? Good luck! :D

There's a general comic book rule that if you don't see the body, there's no death. I'm hoping that applies here but at the same time I don't wanna hope and wait for him to come back when he might not.

I think cos people are so excited over the film, there are some people that go in almost challenging the film to be perfect and blow them away, and it's not really that type of film. It was excellent for what it was supposed to be. There are people getting mad cos they thought this would flop but now it might make more money than The Dark Knight Rises. :S Competition for the sake of it I guess.

The pictures and the gifs made this post make me happy. XD

But yes, I thought this was one of the best superhero movies. I was super impressed with Black Widow! Like, what I liked was she was one of the guys... not one of those faux action girls who are badass until they need an excuse for the hero to save someone so she can fall in love u.u

The fanart for The Avengers has been so hilarious. Every day there's a new one that just makes me laugh so hard. Usually Thor related ones are the best! XD

Yay, I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D I think it's definitely my favourite one of all! You know how much I love Spider-Man, but this was much much better. BW was brilliant! She was such a non-entity in Iron Man 2, I was just expecting her to be just the eye candy or the love interest but she was so cool. Both her and Maria, they were full characters rather than just the girl characters, if you get what I mean. I did love the buddy cop type relationship that her and Hawkeye had. I bet DC are so regretting that they didn't let Joss do their Wonder Woman film. Actually, Peggy Carter in the Captain America film was pretty badass too, even though she was the love interest. Marvel's been doing pretty good with their film ladies.

Haha, I heard that Shawarma sales have been skyrocketting cos of this film. XD I was definitely craving some the minute Tony mentioned it, they are delish.

THIS MOVIE. I can't talk about it without making giddy noises lol.

Anyhoo... Yes, Loki was mind controlling them. The whole sequence on the hellicarrier is very dreamlike. I've noticed this after multiple viewings and there's been some discussion about it.

ALL THE GLORIOUS FANART!!
