Young Justice Ep26: Auld Aquaintances (Season 1 Finale)

HOLY CRAP! What an amazing episode. The animation was on point, the voice acting was amazing and just when you thought the plot twist last episode was enough, there was another one! ;_; Reaction gifs under the cut, but no gifs or pics of the show this time. (I didn't have time to gif this weeks' one!)



- OMG ROY! ;_; HE WAS A CLONE! AND HE DIDN'T KNOW! The real Speedy was kidnapped 3 years ago! *weeps* That's so incredibly sad. And now it makes perfect sense why Roy was so emo. I can't imagine that Wally would be so close to someone that rude!



- I loved that Robin picked up on Batman being weird.



- Black Canary coming in the cave and attacking the kids made me jump! Especially since Red was all GET OUT OF THE CAVE!

- Poor Red, his new body got destroyed so quickly.



- "Four flavours of alien" ♥ I love you Robin. XD



- Can I just say how awesome it is that Aquaman's wife is so much cooler than he is? She usually just sits around being queen, now she's some badass magic lady.



- I also love how badass these kids are. They had to fight against their mentors (in some cases, their parental figures) and they just got down to business and did it.

- Batman vs Robin, oh sh-!



- In every universe, Batman has a secret supply of Kryptonite. ^_^



- LOL, they saved the day and the new year arrived. The new years kisses were kinda awkward! I do love that all my predicted ships worked out, and even Aqualad got some! XD



- Superman finally accepted Superboy! It's about damn time Kal-El!



- "I'm not Roy. I don't know what I am." *weeps* He said what, not who. THAT'S SO SAD!



- Whoops, the bad guys raided Cadmus and took Match! Guardian, you're not really living up to your name hon!



- AAAAAAH! SPEEDY! SPEEDY'S BODY WAS ON ICE IN CADMUS THE WHOLE TIME! AND THEY TOOK HIS ARM! *weeps* It looks like he hasn't aged either, so this is going to be complicated if he ever wakes up. Ahh, and they kidnapped him right after he became Ollie's sidekick. A few weeks into the job and poor kid gets hacked up. Poor Roys, they've both been screwed over. :(



- Arama, 6 members of the JL were gone for 16 hours and no-one knows where they went.



- Batman's all "16 hours...what did we do?" Bats, you came out of a frickin' boom tube, you were off world. And considering the next season of this show has the subtitle "Invasion", I'm guessing you started some intergalactic beef!





I can't tell you guys how glad I am that the second season is starting straight away. And since this is a YJ post, I may as well do an "end of season cliff notes" thingy.

Overall Impression of the Show: Better than I ever could have hoped for. The thing I loved most was that you could totally enjoy this show without having any knowledge of DC Comics or even if you don't like superhero shows in general. It's a really good action animation show. Prior knowledge of the comics only adds to the experience.



Favourite Character: Robin. He's just so cute and awesome. And surprisingly mature for such a little kid!

Best Character Development: Hmmm....probably Miss Martian. Especially with the way people were writing her off in the beginning, she had a really good character arc. Artemis did too actually.

Favourite Episode: A tie between Agendas and Coldhearted. Agendas didn't have much action but was so story-rich, it was awesome. And Coldhearted was an awesome episode about Kid Flash. :D

Surprises of the Show: The mole, obviously. Batman being such a good mentor (Papa Bats ♥). Queen Mera. Liking the Artemis/Kid Flash pairing. Growing fond of Superboy. Aqualad in general, he's so awesome.

Favourite Performance: A tie between Khary Payton (Aqualad) and Jason Spisak (Kid Flash). I liked how Aqualad always carried himself like a soldier but you could still feel he was a bit naive when it came to the "surface world". Payton was awesome in this role, especially when you compare to how different it is to his performance as Cyborg in the Teen Titans cartoon. Kid Flash, a role that could easily come off as a buttmunch but played with a loveable quality. You can't really get mad at Wally. The serious scenes was where Spisak really shined. It was a subtle change, but you could really feel everything Wally was feeling at that moment. The voice cast in general on this show was excellent, and I love nothing more than an excellent voice cast. XD



Okay, geeking out over! BRING ON SEASON 2!

It's very much a MUST GEEK OUT kind of show. Even my sister, who doesn't like superhero cartoons (she hates Justice League, I cry inside a little every time she tells me this) was all WHERE'S THE NEXT EPISODE, I NEED IT NOW. XD

Aha! How's the training going? :)

In a way that's a good thing, you'll have less days to wait before the next episode. You'll like it though, it was really good!

The training is picking up again. The fact that I danced for 3+ hours on Saturday in a dress I couldn't breathe in -- I am totally counting that as cross-training. And I have a 5K Friday. So maybe a lil bit better? I am still awful at getting my long runs in on the weekends (long runs = 9 miles or more).

I am studiously avoiding your post on episode 3 but it's haaaaaaaaaaaard!

That definitely counts! Dancing is fun but it takes a lot of effort! Man, that's awesome, I'm pretty much in awe that you can run that distance. I'm so lazy when it comes to anything besides short bursts of exercise! XD
