Yes, they seem to want to keep making these until one of them turns a profit. XD There are actually quite a few manga/anime that would translate well to screen, and don't have anything specifically Japanese about them so they could be changed to be set in America. Full Metal Panic comes to mind, it's a very basic story that could work in any setting really. But they seem to want to make live action versions of manga/anime that have long story arcs, many characters and can't really be set outside of Japan. Maybe it's because those are the most popular?
My reaction when I first heard about the movie (and that Japan was not making it) was:

Of course, hearing the guy that's in charge of getting the film made say things like the manga has too much silliness so people can't relate to it and we have to make Tohru more of a grounded character, cos she's a bit too silly in the beginning and that being an orphan and living in a tent are unrealistic made me go like this!

Ok. That X-Men one's there because I like seeing Cyclops being punched. XD
It sounds like they're gonna do what Japan did with the Honey & Clover live action versions. Take all the fun out and leave all the depressing parts. As much as I love Fruits Basket, I did go off it when it started to get all serious and sad. :(
I wish I had more gifs of Merlin. He does the best "bitch, please" faces ever. XD
