SP is good! Also: Shige!!!!

I started watching SP (Security Police) over the weekend and I'm on episode 6 now. I'm not sure what I was expecting (to be honest, the main reason I was watching it was because of Okada) but it's really good!
The plots are quite easy to figure out, apart from the main one: the mystery surrounding Inoue (Okada's character) and "that incident" which I don't wanna mention cos spoilers!
There was of course one moment that reduced me back into an Okada fangirl, squeeing all over the place. Spoilers ahead; highlight to read! There was one part where they showed in the preview for next time, Okada getting out of a bathtub and literally ripping his shirt off. It was awesome. So of course, I was pumped for the next episode. The way it happened was the bathtub was filled with some kind of chemical. He lured the bad guy into the room (which at this point was full of oxygen), the bad guy fired the gun, the whole room exploded and just before it did, Inoue jumped in the bathtub so he wouldn't get burned. AWESOME. And then he gets out the tub, rips his shirt off (as seen in the preview) to put out the other bad guy who was on fire. It made the scene even more awesome than I was anticipating! That was the best fanservice scene ever. Seriously. :D
But I am honestly enjoying the show for the story too! :P
I'm probably very behind everyone else in this, but Shige on the latest Shounen Club episode! XD I never knew he had it in him! This confident attitude suits him well! :D I shall also block this out, in case no one wants to be spoiler, so highlight to read the awesomeness of Shige! I'm not sure exactly what happened (there were no subs), but I think Koyama asked Shige to show the younger Johnny's how to pose. Embarrassed, Shige got up and started to pose, with accompanying music and camera shutter noises. Anyhoo, he took of his jacket, his over shirt and then his under shirt! XD By the by, very nice to see! :P Just as he's about to take off his pants, Johnny's guys rush the stage and hide him! XD His response: Well, Yamapi did a nude photoshoot the other day, so I thought it would be okay for me to do this! XD Oh Shige! I wish to see this side of you more often, as it is made of win!

Date: 2008-03-03 11:27 pm (UTC)I've been trying to watch Honey and Clover, but somehow it's too sitcomy. Maybe that gets better after the two episodes I've watched. Now real question: is there some blog you watch to find your dorama choices or are you just singularly awesome and come up with them yourself?
Because I need more! :-)

Date: 2008-03-03 11:32 pm (UTC)Honey and Clover does get better but the anime is 100 times better, and I'd recommend you watch that one if you didn't like the drama! :)
Ahaha, I wish I could say I know how to pick them, but it's usually because I want to watch a drama with a certain actor, or my favourite manga/anime got turned into a live action. But there are loads more about! Let me know which ones you've watched so far, and I'll recommend you some I've watched! ^_^

Date: 2008-03-05 06:50 pm (UTC)Nodame Cantabile. (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Nodame_Cantabile) I cannot tell you how much I love this show. It's amazing to see how the two main characters change and grow throughout the series. I love the way they use music as well. It's also quite hilarious, almost an anime come to life. And the two part special after the series will have you in a good mood for weeks!
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Hanazakari_no_Kimitachi_e) I watched this one a few months back, it's very good. Girl dresses up as guy to go to an all boys school. Touching, hilarious and crack filled. Oguri Shun (who played Hanazawa Rui) is in this. But I think Nakatsu just stole the show! :D
Long Vacation. (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Long_Vacation) Perhaps the mother of all J-Dramas! It stars Kimura Takuya and is definitely my favourite of his dramas that I've seen so far. Lots of love triangles, unconfessed feelings, loveable characters and an awesome theme song.
My Boss My Hero. (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/My_Boss_My_Hero) A yakuza has to graduate from high school if he wants to become the gang's next leader. I LOVE THIS SHOW. Nagase Tomoya (the lead character Makio) makes the most hilarious facial expressions ever. I was expecting it to be mostly comedy but it's really emotional too.
Tiger & Dragon (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Tiger_%26_Dragon) A hilarious and touching drama starring Nagase Tomoya and Okada Junichi. It might take a few episodes to get into this one, but you'll be glad you did!
Kimi wa Pet. (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Kimi_wa_Pet) Matsumoto Jun (Doumyouji Tsukasa) in a role that's the complete opposite to his role in Hana Yori Dango. It's very cute!
Hotaru no Hikari (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Hotaru_no_Hikari) AKA: The J-drama that I can most relate to! The main character, Hotaru, is a complete professional at work but at home is lazy, untidy and stays in a t-shirt and jogging bottoms all day. It's probably one of the most heartwarming dramas I've seen.
I hope those are some good ones for ya! There are a few more, but they're mostly off the wall comedies and stuff. Oh, and one crime one. Let me know if you need anymore!

Date: 2008-03-05 08:51 pm (UTC)Now I LOVE the HanaKimi manga and I've heard from other fans, the show can't keep up. And that the Taiwanese version was better than the Japanese version. So I've been tenuous about downloading it. I should prolly download it one at a time rather than in bulk like I did for HYD.
::rubs hands together gleefully:: I just need to start!

Date: 2008-03-05 09:22 pm (UTC)Ah, I've never read the manga so I can't really compare the two, but I did enjoy it a lot!
There are loads of good ones though! If you like ones that stay faithful to the manga, Nodame Cantabile stays almost 100% close I've heard.
