So apparently (cos The Avengers got all the money), a Justice League movie is in the works.
I feel very eh about it to be honest. It feels very rushed to me. Marvel took their time developing the characters and a new universe for them, so that comic book fans and non-comic book fans could enjoy them. Plus The Avengers roster was a lot more grounded that the JL would be. Thor was the most "out there" of the characters.
It'll have the new Superman (his film is out next year I think?), a rebooted Batman and then whoever's left over. Probably the current Green Lantern (which is a shame cos I love me some John Stewart) and Wonder Woman. The Flash will probably feature as well, and be Barry Allen instead of Wally West. I don't have much faith in them doing justice (no pun intended) to Wonder Woman though. She has all the potential to be so amazing! It's kind of a shame, DC actually has some amazing female characters!
I'm probably being too pessimistic, but I think the old Justice League cartoon, and to be honest the new Young Justice cartoon, has set the bar so high for how DC teams should work in non-print media that the film's going to fall short. I really hope they get some of the people who have worked on the cartoons and comics to help with the film. Cos that Gail Simone Wonder Woman animated movie that came out a while back? Amaaaaazing!
Day 20 – Cartoon character you would most want to date, if they were real.
Ohh, there were waaaaaay too many options for this one! XD I felt I would be a bit of a creeper if I put Terry McGinnis or Sokka. I went with...
DCAU Wally West/The Flash. He was very sweet, the most good-hearted character in the entire series. I liked that he seemed like a big goofball, but was actually very responsible and smart (Flash and Substance was a good episode to show this).
He's pretty funny too, most of the best one-liners came from him! Even though he was always trying (and failing) to mack on Wondy and Hawkgirl, he had a few admirers on the show (Talia, Giganta and Fire).
Looks good! I have a theory about the ending of this film, and this trailer kinda makes me think it's going to be true. I did have a little squeal thing going on when I saw that little flash of JGL.
They're going to reboot this franchise in a few years though, I don't know how they'll go about it. As awesome as the first two films were, looking back on them, they're definitely a version of Batman for the civillians kind of thing. The newer Marvel comics films have found a better balance between comics and what the general public will accept seeing on screen, so I wonder if they'll go in that direction.
I AM EXCITE!
I really hope this comes out here, especially since I now have a Bluray player. XD Important bits for those who don't want to click the link.
Castle star Nathan Fillion will reprise the role of Green Lantern, which he first played in Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. He'll be joined by Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy, the longtime voices for Superman and Batman, respectively. Rounding out the cast are several of Conroy's old costars from Cartoon Network's 2001-06 Justice League series (known as Justice League Unlimited in later seasons): Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum as the Flash, Alias alum Carl Lumbly as Martian Manhunter and veteran voice actress Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman.
The movie, due to be released in early 2012 on DVD, Blu-ray, digital download and on-demand, is based on the popular DC storyline JLA: Tower of Babel, written by Mark Waid.
Lauren Montgomery, a veteran of several animated movies in this series, including the upcoming Batman: Year One, is the director. The script was written by acclaimed animation/comic book writer Dwayne McDuffie, who passed away earlier this year.
Ah DC. Even though it's based on a comic, your cartoons are so much more enjoyable than the comics. XD
Although reading that I just realised that it's been 10 years since Justice League first started! :O
Well, now I know that if comics ever piss me off again, then the Internet is better at expressing my
Spoilers if you haven't read that new comic with Arsenal, Starfire and Jason Todd but given DC's recent history of fail, I'm pretty sure you can guess which of those three they messed up. ¬_¬
My reaction to that Shortpacked comic was pretty much...
And this awesome article which explains what's happened, the problems I have with female characters in comics recently, and also kinda the problem I have with how females are portrayed in films. (It's less of a problem on TV, but still a problem!)
Just when I thought comics couldn't piss me off anymore! Just when I thought I could just ignore all this stuff and walk away. And then...
( Angry gifs and stuff! Oh, and spoilers I guess. )
I really didn't put my point across as well as I would have liked, but I seriously can't with this right now. It's pretty safe to say that if I ever get back into comics again, it definitely won't be with DC. You'd think I would have learned not to be surprised by now.
I haven't bought any comics in ages!
And you know, apart from the odd graphic novel, and getting the new Ultimate Spider-Man comic via trades...I don't think I'm going to buy them anymore. I've never been a "buying comics for collecting them" type of person. The only comic I own the full run of is the new X-Factor book, which went back to it's original numbering anyway!
It's a shame though, cos X-Factor's the only book that has been on point month after month without fail, but comics as a medium is pissing me off too much for me to stay invested in them. I knew going in that I wasn't the target audience for either of the big two, but there were a lot of books at the time that weren't so obvious about the 18-35 year old male demographic. Now there's just too much fail on both sides (although I must admit, more on DC's side) and...well, to be honest, I don't enjoy reading them anymore. And who knows when Marvel will look at what DC's done, and decide to reset the whole thing anyway. Then X-Factor would be gone!
I'll stick to the films and cartoons. DC's cartoons are so much better than the comics anyway.
Random thought of the day: I don't like Superman's new film costume. It's like he's naked but he's not. XD
So cute! ♥ I'll be watching it after it's finished and subbed. Definitely need it after watching Joou no Kyoushitsu. (Will post about that later, but holy crap!)
Also, it looks like DC Comics is resetting/rebooting/revamping their entire line. Yep, everything's going back to #1, including the books that have been running since the 40s! Looks like I was right not to pick up Red Robin. XD There's not a lot of confirmed info about it yet, so I'll
First pic of Wonder Woman from the new NBC tv series...
( Arama...! )
I think DC's main problem is that, apart from the Batman films, the animated shows and films always do it a lot better. The recent animated Wonder Woman film was brilliant! Although I can't see Hollywood execs greenlighting a film where the woman is tougher than the man, and isn't all I AM STRONG BECAUSE I HATE EVERYTHING. XD
They've casted Superman in the new movie reboot!
It's Brit actor Henry Cavill!
( He even has the chin cleft thingy. XD )
I thought Brandon Routh was a good Superman, so it's a shame they didn't give him another chance, but I'm sure this guy will be fine. The main problem with Superman Returns was Lois, she was bland, boring and whiny. She's just as iconic as Superman is, so hopefully they'll get an actress who can show that, and a script that does too. I am giggling slightly at all the fanboys losing their collective (expletive deleted) at Supes being played by a non-American. Christian Bale's Batman accent is fake, you do know that right? XD
I saw the new Karate Kid this week, I enjoyed it! Not as good as the original, but I never got the feeling that it was trying to be, so it's all good. I also watched the new Batman movie, Under The Red Hood. Very cool! Didn't recognise Jensen Ackles as Red Hood at first! The new Joker VA was really good too.
( Spoilers! )
Now, I haven't rambled (or made icons) about One Piece in a while, cos I'm aware it's all been kicking off and I'm very behind so I don't want to be spoiled! But this is where I'm up to so far...
( Again, spoilers! ) Over 400 episodes, and this show is still kicking ass. :D
I'm thinking of a new Korean drama to watch. Has anyone watched Beethoven's Virus or Lawyers of the Great Republic of Korea? Are they any good?
