I've watched a few animes, and I can't remember posting about any of them. (Except Nichijou, but I'll post about that anyway cos it's awesome.) I should point out that I'm the worst when it comes to watching anime, I'm always late and don't watch as many as I used to. I'm even behind on my beloved One Piece. XD
First up, Toradora!
( Some spoilers... )
Next, Lovely Complex!
( I know, I'm late on this one! )
( The Regular Show of anime. )
And speaking of anime, I do believe it's that time of year again (even though I think I missed it last year)
While watching an episode of Johnny Bravo, these two scenes made me literally go:
( Pics under the cut. Not edited in the slightest! )
All the Cartoon Cartoons of that era were like this though. Anyone remember that episode where Dexter hired that actress to play Dee Dee while she was gone? Even as a kid, that one scene made me go daaaaamn!
Okay, I'm too lazy to post on all the episodes I didn't blab about before, so I'll give a general sum up of my feelings/thoughts/reactions on the last few episodes.
( Spoilers! )
All in all, great start to the series. Hopefully now they've got an additional 26 episodes on top of the 14 they're currently making, they can take their time and develop the story/characrters how they want.
I had to put the romantic films in my Bollywood queue on hold cos it's that time of year where I like to put all lovey dovey stuff away in the cupboard until winter time. XD So, I decided to watch 3 Idiots instead. It's Bollywood's highest grossing film ever and I've never heard anyone say a bad word about it, so I went in with high expectations.
It ended up being quite possibly one of my favourite films of all time. In all and every genre ever. Just amazing. I haven't been moved by a film like that in forever. Education and what's expected of our generation and the ones coming after it always get me in a bit of a tizzy. So this film was bound to hit home for me, but it did a little too well.
Warning: There are some triggery moments in the film. I don't wanna give it away, but be warned!
Anyhoo, copy and paste from wiki: Farhan Qureshi (R. Madhavan), Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi) and Ranchoddas Shamaldas "Rancho" Chanchad (Aamir Khan) are three engineering students who share a room in the residence of Imperial College of Engineering (ICE). Farhan is studying engineering to pursue his father's wishes over his own wish — to become a wildlife photographer. Raju is studying to raise his family's fortunes and get them out of poverty. On the other hand, Rancho studies for his simple passion in machines and devices. Rancho believes that success in studying is not achieved by solely memorizing definitions given by textbooks or professors, but by understanding and applying the concepts. He believes that one should follow excellence, not success, as success will come by itself if excellence is followed.
( My thoughts will have some spoilers though. )
The film wasn't all serious business though. It had some genuine LOL moments, some parts will make you cry, some parts will make you go HELL YEAH and if you're not jamming to this song by the end of it, you are a liar! XD
Be careful of other versions of this video on YT, it gives away a very big plot point at the end of the song.
It also has some really great dialogue. A film's always great for me when you can quote half of it in real life. This one never fails to me make me giggle. IT'S THE WAY HE SAYS IT! XD
I really wish this had been out before I went to uni or while I was studying. ;_;
Okay, you guys know I fangirl Spidey to the point where it's a problem. XD I was expecting to enjoy this film, but not as much as I did. It really was amazing. However, it did have it's flaws. Not major ones, but more like "it's a shame" flaws that held the film back from being perfect. I was, however, like this by the end of the film:
Andrew Garfield was the live action Peter Parker/Spider-Man that I had been waiting for. ♥
( Major spoilers! )
I'm hoping that they really, really bring their A-game for the next one. With everything they've set in place in this film, the next one could be even more amazing.
This one goes first cos I had it written out already. XD
Young Justice is on a mid-season break/summer vacation.
I was not comfortable with the whole 5 year timeskip at first, but as the episodes went on I realised it was because we were missing a heck of a lot of backstory and I hate not knowing backstory. (Proof of this being catching up on 100+ episodes of IPKKND in a week. XD) There were two episodes I didn't get to fangirl about. First, the episode with Impulse. Of course, my reaction was like this:
( Spoilers! )
Then the next episode, half season finale! All I can say is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Main points.
( More spoilers! )
So today was the beginning of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations in the UK. And what was trending on Twitter besides the Jubilee?
Yep. Takeshi's Castle. XD There was a marathon on yesterday and today. (I did waste a good number of hours watching it.
( Some other funny tweets )
And so you can get a flavour of why everyone's so obsessed with it...
( 3 of my favourite games. )
I never not laugh watching this. XD
A more substantial post later, as I'll have more time thanks to the four day weekend!! :D
- Korra's back this week, yay!
- Last new Young Justice for a while. :(
But apparently it's an episode written by PAD so I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
- After this week's action packed IPKKND, I just had to make this gif. XD
This show has totally sent me back 10 years. IT'S NOT GOOD! I've worked very hard on maintaining a certain level of cynicism towards life but the OTP are being too precious right now. XD
- After being challenged by my friend, I settled on 7 (possibly 8) animes that Hollywood could adapt into live action. Important word being could. They should never touch these anyway, but it'd be better than going for ones that they need to change almost everything.
- I finished Beethoven Virus, it was really good! Very different from the Korean dramas I usually watch, but very entertaining. And I want Jang Geun Suk to record a book on tape or something cos his speaking voice is ear candy!
Korra's on a break next Saturday! ;_; Anyhoo, ramblings on this week's episode.
( Spoilers and 2 gifs! )
Young Justice! Which hopefully, is not on a break next week cos I need my cartoons!
( Spoilers and reaction gifs. Cos this episode had too many WHAT moments. )
I'm watching a new anime (yay, finally) called Nichijou. It's like Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh on crack. An example here from ep 7 (don't worry, he's not a main character). My exact reaction was this
I'm on ep 10 at the moment, it's so funny! XD
After a lengthy discussion/debate with a friend of mine about all the US live action anime adaptations coming up, I was thinking of making a post about which animes I think would make a good transition (if done well). Not that they should ever be made, but on paper they'd be okay....
And the latest spoilers from IPKKND have me all excited. Not because of what is gonna be said, but the meaning behind saying it. You're a buttmunch ASR, but you know your contract wifey!
Okay, I think I've calmed down enough now to make a coherent(ish) post about this wonderful ball of amazingness. XD Although I've got to get a few things off my chest first.
1) Everyone and their dog/cat is going on about how amazeballs this film is. And it is. But, with certain pre-conditions. If you don't enjoy the superhero genre or are expecting a LOTR style epic masterpiece thingy then you'll be disappointed. It's a great superhero film, really enjoyable, got a lot of heart but don't expect something Oscar worthy. ^_^
2) While you can enjoy this film without having seen the Marvel films before it, I wouldn't recommend it. A big part of the appeal of this film was the character interaction/development and Joss did great work building on top of what had come before instead of just starting from scratch. There were moments in the film for Cap, Thor and Iron Man that hold more meaning if you've seen the other films. Out of all of them, I'd say Thor and Cap's films are the most important to see before going, but Iron Man's films are great too.
3) The Avengers is not Batman. XD A lot of people have been comparing the two lately, but to be honest, the only thing they have in common is that they're both based on comic books. Avengers is a straight up comic book film, and I love the Nolan Batman films but I'd be hard pressed to call them superhero films. It's more like, if Batman existed in real life, this is how he'd be.
Now, with that out of the way, review time! I loved, loved, loved this film. I could seriously watch this every week until it left the cinema, but then I'd be broke and this film already has enough money. I feel like it was completely enjoying being a superhero film, not worrying about whether non-comic book fans would find certain things weird or silly, and it just went and had fun. A big part of this is because Joss is a fan and knows the genre so well and he just brought it on this. If he doesn't do Avengers 2, I will be so damn upset.
( Spoilers with gifs! )
One of the great things about this film is the hilarious/cute fanart that has come out of it.
( Spoilers!! )
Please take note Hollywood. Things don't have to be doom and gloom in order to make bank.
I'm probably late on the uptake, but I came across all these click and drag game things on tumblr. You click and drag the image and it picks a character for each category. This seems like something I would've got so addicted to back when I was in school. Any excuse not to do homework. XD
Anyhoo, there's an Avatar one here, also including characters from Korra! Have a go! I got...
Your Best Friend: Sokka
Your Enemy: Toph (Awwww!)
Has a Crush On You: Ozai
Your First Kiss: Bolin
Your True Love: Ozai (Oh dear)
Your Bending: Water
Yes. I'm aware I'm too old for this sort of thing. But it's 1am and I can't fall asleep! XD (And I just found one for Hey Arnold, oh dear)
